What is the difference between the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version?

2018.10.01

DeviceXPlorer OPC Server has two installation options: the 32-bit (x86) version and the 64-bit (x64) version.
On a Windows 32-bit OS, only the 32-bit version can be installed.
On a Windows 64-bit OS, either the 32-bit or 64-bit version can be installed.

Advantage of the 64-bit version

  • As compared to the 32-bit version, the performance improvement can be expected by expanding the usable memory area.

Limits of the 64-bit version

  • The 64-bit version of DeviceXPlorer cannot be installed on Windows 32-bit OS.
  • The 64-bit version doesn't support the following communication types since some communication libraries don't support 64 bit architectures. Please refer to the user's guide for details.
    - MELSEC EZSocket
    - Mitsubishi CNC EZSocketNc
    - SYSMAC FinsGateway / SysmacGateway / CX-Compolet
    - TOYOPUC CPU Port
    - FANUC FOCAS
  • The 64-bit version doesn't support the SuiteLink interface. Please install the 32 bit-version if the SuiteLink interface is required.

Notes

  • The 32-bit version and the 64-bit version cannot be coexisted.
  • When you install the 32-bit version on a Windows 64-bit OS, the aplication runs on SysWOW64 without any problems.
