Difference of how to connect with higher level application when major version upgrading

When major version upgrading of DeviceXPlorer OPC Server (e.g. Ver.5 to Ver.6), the following shows the scope of impact regarding differences between versions.

Product coexistence

Different major versions can coexist on the same computer.

Setting files

Project file (*.dxp)

Project file (*.dxp) is backward compatible, so it is possible to open older version project files in newer versions.

System setting file (System.dxpcfg)

The system configuration file (System.dxpcfg) located in the product folder of "C:\ProgramData\TAKEBISHI" is a configuration file related to the installation configuration and common properties of the product, and is different for each major version of the product.

If you want to set the same as the previous version, you need to follow the settings of the previous version and take over manually.

Function of OPC UA server

Note that the Endpoint specified when connecting from the OPC UA client is different by each version. The communication port of OPC UA can be changed to any port number in the common property.

Function of OPC DA server

The specified Prog.ID when connecting from the OPC DA client is different by each versions.
If you specify "Takebishi.Dxp" without specifying the Prog.ID version, OPC DA client can communicate with latest version.

DDE/SuiteLink function

The initial value of the application name specified when connecting from the DDE/SuiteLink client is different.
The application name can be changed in "Common Properties".
