FTP(File Transfer Protocol) is installed in Ethernet unit "QJ71E71" of MELSEC-Q series.
The FTP is a protocol as its name, to transfer the file, and it comes to be able to download the program file and the data file that exists in the memory in CPU. Moreover, a remote operation such as RUN/STOP of CPU is also possible.
At first, we simply explain the method of setting up the FTP, the parameter of the FTP is setup with GX Developer. This is very easily. You have only to setup the user name and the password to login.
When the FTP function is set to "Use it", it can access it from anywhere if it is a PC in LAN, though it is very convenient, on the other hand there is fear that CPU is remotely operated from anywhere. You had better steady use of the management of the password and the usage of the password. We want to avoid only having stopped the production facility.
The setting of MELSEC side is only this. PC only has to access, and it explains the usage of the FTP tool attached to Windows. For the person that is not so mush of PC information.

1. Start FTP software
The FTP software moves if the DOS window of Windows (command prompt) is opened, it is input as the FTP, and presses return. The screen immediately after the start displays the left. There is no visual element because it is simple software at all.

2. Connect to Target PLC
Please input as "open ***.***.***.***". The part of the asterisk puts IP address set with PLC. IP address accesses PLC of "192.168.19.106" on a left screen.
The password is input though neither login user name "TEST" nor the display set on are done because the user name and the password are continuously heard.
If it is possible to login well, the message like "User login" is displayed. |

3. If the command of the FTP is input, various functions can be used.
For example, when you see the file list, download "dir". When the file download, is "recv". Remote operation is the "quote" command. Please reference the user's manual, and describe to the explanation of command.
A left screen remotely operates PLC by the "quote" command (RUN/STOP).

4. When the file list is displayed, it becomes like the left.
When the drive number is omitted, by specifying built in memory and drive number "1". So can see in the SRAM card.
It is understood that there are two files of parameter (PARAM.QPA) and main program (MAIN.QPG) in a built in memory.
Moreover, because to the SRAM card, the file register is setup to 2K point (4Kbyte), the file can be confirmed. (The file name changes to the setting up of "R" with GX Developer.)
It is "a binary file of 16bit Integer" though notices of 4096 bytes the size of this file.

5. Finally, Logged off
The command of "close" is used for logoff. Moreover, to terminate the FTP software, it is input as "bye". It is possible to return to a usual state of Command prompt.

Here, though used the program of "FTP.EXE" attached to Windows by the standard, the various free software like "FFFTP" has markets. If it is only sending and receiving of the file, of the FTP, might be easier the use of such a tool.
Though we thinks that the sending and receiving of the file and the remote operation were able to understand, in actually, when the FTP is used by this, what merit is in "FTP how to use"?
In MELSEC-Q series, "FWRITE/FREAD" is added as a dedicate instruction. Though the command that "FWRITE" saves for "the device data" at the file, if it is used, the data pinpoint timing is able to accumulate in a memory card of PLC. (Only the ATA card. Flash/SRAM is improper. ) The binary form and CSV form can be used.
By combining well "this command" and "the FTP function", while driving mode the device data saves in the file and when abnormally generated, the data saves to the file and when you need, you can check PC system. Such the system can come true.
