Communication Response Performance

First
The content introduces here is the one having aimed can the grasp of the user who is integrate by the use of our I/O Server of the standard of the communication performance by the design phase. This material is an examination result in our company, and no one to guarantee the value.

Test Requirements (Tested at Apr. 2003)
Computer
CPU Pentium4 - 1.6GHz
RAM 256MB
OS Windows XP Professional / SP1
MNET/H Board Q80BD-J71LP21-25 (MNET/H Mode 25Mbps)
I/O Server Ver3.40
Protocol Timer Ticks : 5ms
UpdateInterval : 50ms
Client Software Wonderware InTouch 7.11

MELSEC
CPU Q02HCPU
Ethernet Module QJ71E71-100 (100BASE-TX)
Serial Module QJ71C24 (115K/8/1/N)
MELSECNET/H QJ71LP21-25 (MNET/H Mode 25Mbps)
Scan Time Under 10ms (The value of the object device does every scanning change)
Link Refresh Under 10ms

* The access device is a continuous area of D or W.

Examination method
It is made to register the device of a pertinent point in InTouch in this examination, to set, "Advice All Items", and to communicate. Moreover, the measuring method counts the change frequency within the fixed time by using InTouch "Data Change" script, and calculates the average communication time.

* As for the InTouch application, only TAG used in the log, alarm, script, displayed on the screen becomes the object of the communication usually. Therefore, when the communication time is calculated, it is recommended to be calculated based on the screen where not the tag points used with the entire system but the most a lot of devices are used.

Result - MELSEC Interface Comparison

* Because the MELSEC-Q series can access the batch up to 960 words, it is possible to communicate at high speed compared with the MELSEC-A series.

* The module of MELSEC-A series are A4UCPU and AJ71UC4 (19200/8/1/N) in this test.

* It is a communication result in the MELSEC-Q series in 115Kbps, MELSEC-A series in 19200bps.

* NOTE:
On the other hand, the response decreases considerably because the transient transmission (Accessing to internal device of the PLC on the network) is interrupted usual cyclic transmission and accessed to PLC.
